[intro] When you will have completed this guide, you will have pointed your 1and1 domain at your Obodo shop. All you will have to do after this task is completed is wait 24-36 hours for propagation to occur and your Obodo shop will officially be live!

1. Log into your Obodo shop and click the Settings tab:

2. Click Domain Name:

3. Click Use An Existing Domain Name:

4. Click This Domain Name Is Not Being Used:

5. Enter your 1and1 domain name - with the www prefix - into the field provided and click the green Add Domain button. You’ll see the IP address above this- you need to copy this number:


6. In a separate browser tab, log into your 1and1 account. On the Domains page, click the cog symbol next to your 1and1 domain and select DNS Settings from the drop-down menu:

7. Scroll down to the A/AAAA Records section and click Other IP Address:

8. Paste the IP address of your Obodo shop into the IPV4 field:

[warning] Don't be tempted to simply copy the IP address that is shown in the images above. You need to use the IP address of your own Obodo shop as it may not reside on the same server as our test shop which we used to create this Guide. Adding the wrong IP address will result in your domain not working properly and it can take upwards of another 24 hours to rectify the issue and have your 1and1 domain pointing correctly at your Obodo shop. [/warning]

9. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the blue save button:

10. You have now successfully pointed your 1and1 domain at your Obodo shop. If you check on the Domain Name page in your Obodo shop, you'll be able to see that the domain has been pointed correctly as both versions ('www' and 'non-www') will have an active symbol beneath them:

[caution] You can make either version the primary domain by pressing the Make Primary button if this is the only domain name you have pointed at your shop, however if you have an SSL certificate set up on an existing domain name pointed at your Obodo shop this will not be visible if you assign a different Primary domain name and a second SSL Certificate would need to be purchased. [/caution]

[remember] All changes made to domain name settings - regardless of the provider - will always require time for the changes to take effect. Pointing a domain name to a destination can take anywhere between 12 and 36 hours to propagate. [/remember]
